Humanitarian Assistance in the UK: Current Capability and the Development
of Best Practice – Research Report
9th October 2007
In April 2007 the Department for Culture, Media and Sport commissioned
research to identify the current capability in humanitarian assistance
around the UK. A report published
today “Humanitarian Assistance in the UK: Current Capability and the
Development of Best Practice” produced by Dr Anne Eyre, Viv Brunsden &
Jamie Murphy identifies some examples of good practice in humanitarian
assistance and provides an evidence-base for the development of future best
practice. The report also focuses on challenges and opportunities for
enhancing emergency capability, and makes recommendations about the type of
support local responders require and where Government resources should be
focused.
